What long-time users are asking.

Is Chamilo 2.x backward-compatible with my existing courses?

Yes. The pedagogical logic, courses, learning paths, sessions, exercises stays the same, and your existing content is preserved during the update.

Do I need to migrate to Chamilo 2.x right now?

Not urgently, but it's recommended in order to take advantage of the native AI tools, the REST API, and OnlyOffice. Contact BeezNest to assess the best timing for your organization.

Is my data preserved during the migration?

Yes, the migration doesn't start from scratch: your courses, users, and tracking data are preserved.

Is Chamilo LMS still actively developed?

Yes. Continuously evolving since 2010, with Chamilo 2.x as the latest major milestone (April 2026) and a next version already in preparation — see the history above.

Is Chamilo 2.x still Open Source?

Yes, under the GNU/GPLv3 license, with no mandatory license cost, just like all previous versions.
