For the sake of remembering myself of what I did, not being an expert in JavaScript coding but still needing to fix that placeholder bug in Dokeos, I'm writing this part as a real log, not really a well-presented article, but I'm still publishing it in case it would help someone else. In Dokeos, we use FCKeditor. The first problem that comes to mind is that I don't know exactly which version.

A bunch of Dokeos users have reported problems with FCKeditor in Dokeos 1.8.5. The first one is with the creation of links in Firefox 3 (somehow the JavaScript was wrong there). This one has already been fixed in preparation of the next version of Dokeos. The other ones are all related to the management of special resources (flv, sounds, swf) which seem to be a little bit less reliable than in Dokeos 1.8.4. Be reassured that we are working on this right now.

In case it would be of any interest to you, I am currently developing a kind of "branch" of Dokeos (although nothing legally-binding about the branch stuff) in Latin America, and more specifically in Peru. Peru is still what I would call a developing country, so at the same time it is hard to get used to (living there) and possibly excellent for future business opportunities.

I'm trying to get my head around a super-tricky bug since last Friday.

Yes, we have our first annoying bug in Dokeos 1.8.5.

There's some new stuff on the net in terms of code analysis.

It might seem kind of weird to mention it, but I had somewhat of a big scare when Secunia sent us an e-mail entitled "Security Patches in Dokeos 1.8.5". If my fears had been right, it would have meant that we would have needed to re-package 1.8.5 only two days after the official release.

For the ones of you who are using their own CSS, there are a few changes that have appeared in Dokeos 1.8.5 that might affect you... First of all, we have removed the "default" style (in the Dokeos package, that is, so it won't affect you if you are migrating from a 1.8.x).
