We are currently approaching the 1.9 release of Chamilo. In the inner circles, it will be called 1.9.0 as it will be followed by one or two other bugfix releases. During the past years, we started getting into details of 1.8.7.1, 1.8.8.4 etc. In my view, this was a bad decision.

This command might be useful if you want to auto-generate the Boost module cache files on a Drupal site

wget -r -l4 --spider -D thesite.com http://www.thesite.com

Let's analyse the options...

-r indicates it's recursive (so "follow the links" and look for more than one page)

-l indicates the number of levels we want to recurse. If you are on the first page and you follow a link, you are at level 1. If you follow a link on that last page, you are at level 2, etc

--spider indicates not to download anything (we just want to go through the pages, that's all)

This is the life-saver cheatsheet you need if you're ever going to want to understand complex rewrite rules like the ones generated by the Boost module in Drupal: http://www.askapache.com/htaccess/mod_rewrite-variables-cheatsheet.html In particular, in RewriteRule .* - [S=5], the [S=5] rule means "skip the next 5 lines". It can represent a considerable efficiency boost!

Munin 2.0 on Debian

Munin 2.0 has been released and packaged for Debian, and even backported to Squeeze (from backports.debian.org). Even though there are still some quirks in this version (or just the Debian packaging), it is far better (more scalable, more powerful and prettier) than version 1.4.
