2. A native MCP server to connect AI agents
The most significant addition in this release: Chamilo now includes a native MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, with full OAuth2.1 authentication. In practice, a teacher or administrator can connect an AI agent directly to their Chamilo platform to:
- create and review courses,
- manage exercises and their content,
- track and support learners.
Good to know: MCP is the open protocol championed by Anthropic to connect AI systems to business applications. Chamilo integrates an MCP server directly into its application core, with no plugin to install, an approach still rare among Open Source LMS platforms, where MCP integration usually goes through a third-party module built by the community.
3. Migrating from Moodle to Chamilo, made easier
If you're considering moving your courses from Moodle to Chamilo, version 3.0 improves and secures the import of Moodle content: support for Moodle 4 exports, and automatic resolution of learning-path references that could previously break during transfer.
Still Open Source: as it has been since 2010, Chamilo 3.0 remains published under the GNU/GPLv3+ license, with no mandatory license cost and a fully public, auditable source code.
4. AI Student Success Coach
The new AI Student Success Coach module complements the AI tools already available (contextual tutor, exercise generation, assisted grading), with support focused on tracking and improving learner success.
5. A completed technical foundation
Chamilo's last legacy tools (forum, surveys, wiki, portfolio, gradebook) have now been migrated to the modern architecture introduced with 2.0 — Vue.js, API Platform 4, Symfony 7. The platform now runs on a unified technical foundation, with the first API building blocks for the Chamilo mobile app.

6. New visual identity
The BeezNest and Chamilo LMS logos have changed. This release comes with a new visual identity for both BeezNest and Chamilo LMS. You'll see it progressively across all our materials.
The two identities were designed to echo one another. In Chamilo's logo, the chameleon embodies adaptability, resting on an open book, a symbol of education; the spikes on its back evoke openness and knowledge sharing. In BeezNest's logo, the hexagon is inspired by a bee's cell, the home base from which development radiates, crossed by a comet that echoes those same spikes. Both identities also share their dominant colours.
